Life can be overwhelming at times. Today's families wear many hats. They are parents, providers, educators and nurturers. Some families are effective with all the hats they wear and others have some difficulty with some. They find themselves isolated, single parents, teen parents, and or parents of many children, or they themselves were abused/neglected. Sometimes there is no one to turn to and parents do the best they can. But now there is someone to help, a Family Mentor!

Families are the pillars of our society and the basis for strong communities. HUGS FOR KIDS believes that by strengthening each member of the family through mentoring, the family will be more effective and prepared to deal with life's challenges and responsibilities.

A volunteer mentor visits a family twice per month. They talk and listen to families, just like friends do. Mentor and family can play board games, read books, do arts and crafts or listen to music. They also spend time having fun, like visiting the zoo, beach, museum or park. Mentors can assist parents with questions regarding their child's education, development and safety.

The Family Mentoring program is a voluntary program for families with school age children in the Lantana and Lake Worth area that feel overwhelmed and want to ensure that their children do their best in school.  A volunteer mentor visits a family twice a month for six months to a year.  They will talk and listen to families, spend time having fun together, and can assist parents with questions regarding their child's education, development and safety.

Our mentors are thoroughly screened, evaluated, trained and supervised by our agency.
