Parent Child Youth Mentoring Program

WE NEED YOU as a volunteer mentor to visit a family twice per month for six months to a year. The Parent Child Youth Mentoring program is a voluntary program for families with children age birth to 18 that feel overwhelmed and want to build on their family’s strengths As a family mentor you will be matched with a family spending 1-4 hours with that family twice a month. You must be at least 21 years of age (or enrolled in an approved internship) to become a mentor and all applicants are screened with a background check.

Don’t have the time to become a mentor? The program is in need of items to bring to the families. WE can always use donations of books, board games, school supplies, arts and craft items, and children’s clothing. Maybe you could donate passes to the zoo for a family or tickets to a ball game. Or sponsor a family for the holidays. There are many ways that you can support the Parent Child Youth Mentoring Center.

TEACUP Program

WE NEED YOU for respite care of siblings so Mom can spend some bonding time with her preemie. An hour or two of your time can help relieve some stress and allow mom to concentrate on her newborn infant without worries. While with the siblings you can play games, read a book, or just listen to them. You must be at least 21 years of age (or enrolled in an approved internship) to become a volunteer and all applicants are screened with a background check.

Other ways that you can help are donations of preemie clothes and baby items. How about sponsoring a preemie basket that we give each new mom? A box of diapers? Would you like to sponsor a mom and fund a breast pump? The need is great and you can do so much to help a family that is experiencing uncertainty and fear.

Office Angels Needed in Lantana

The Children’s Healing Institute’s main office is looking for a few good Office Angels to come in once a week to help with clerical support. Volunteers will help with data entry, filing, phone calls, and mailings.

Volunteers should have a working knowledge of computers and word processing, feel comfortable on the phone, and have a great sense of humor. Due to security purposes, volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older.
